I just experienced a Sunday Funday like none other. It was a Sunday that we looked forward to for months. Some of my favorite people who all happen to work in TV were part of this spectacular celebration of Polo. I was invited by my dear friend, Sonya Berg. She is the founder of Zen Fashionista and is always helping plan fabulous functions, fashion shows, live TV interviews, and fundraisers around San Diego. My favorite quality about her is her HEART. Pure Gold! She is also a polo player, which is a whole ‘nother level of cool! So Polo’s Opening Day is quite the special time of year for her, which is why I felt so grateful to attend Opening Day with Sonya. Check out her recent blog post on SD Polo fashion!
Here’s how it all went down… We meet at Sonya’s house and enjoyed a photo shoot by her gorgeous pool!
Then we headed to the fields! I was amazed at the glitz and glam and the beauty all around us. We may have been walking along a field of horses, but you’d think we were on a yacht or in a ballroom. To be honest, I don’t think I watched more than a minute of polo. But this was my first experience! Next time, I’ll pay more attention to the event at hand, promise!
Lindsay Hood (AM content manager at San Diego 6), Natasha Sweatte, Angie Lee (reporter at CBS8), Sabrina Fein (Chief Meteorologist at San Diego 6 News), Tabitha Lipkin (Miss Scuba International and anchor at One America News Network), and MOI!
We did contribute a little bit to the sport, in the form of divot stomping. This is an awesome tradition! (Think: the scene from Pretty Woman when Julia Roberts was in that creme and brown polda dot number.) All these lovely ladies in cute in heels go out and stomp on clumps of grass on the field. It is our sole duty to flatten out the course for the next round of polo! I would love to stay we stomped on hundreds of divots and truly performed our duty well. But I think we got distracted with socializing and taking cute pics that we may or may not have stepped on one or two divots. Haha!
And of course, what’s a polo event without a photo booth?! This was WAY too much fun. Thank you to Riviera Magazine for an incredible VIP party complete with delicious drinks, food, and fun with photos!
