Run, Squat, Run, Lunge, Repeat

It’s been beautiful around here, especially in the mornings. San Diego’s sunshine is not wanting to stop and I’m completely OK with that. All it does is make me want to get outside even more.

Today I woke up frantic, in a panic, at 745am! My alarm didn’t go off! I’m supposed to be at Exos at 8am and it’s about 40 minutes away, so there was NO WAY I was going to make it. I texted our trainer Victor and I told him I would do sprints at the beach as a way to punish myself for sleeping in. He told me to add pushups and lunges. Of course he would say that.

So here is what my workout entailed:

Sprint for about 100 yards on the sand. Stop, catch breath, and do 100 squats.

Sprint for about 100 yards on the sand. Stop, catch breath, and do 25 lunges (each leg).

Sprint for about 100 yards on the sand. Stop, catch breath, and do 25 pushups.

Repeat 2 more times.

I know what you’re thinking, isn’t this how I broke my fibula?! Well, I’m stronger now and I need to get back to the sand every now and then. It just feels too good not to!

I ran about 30 more minutes on the sidewalk after my sweat session. I embarked on a nice slow trot (in my Brooks Running shoes, of course) simply because it was GORGEOUS outside!
