When Chris and I moved in to our cute apartment near the coast, I instantly started day dreaming about the furniture I wanted. Simple, clean, bright, and beachy. Check out my Pinterest for some of my ideal looks. We found a steal of a place and can only afford to pay rent because I stalked our neighborhood through Trulia and we raced to the property manager’s office within 20 minutes of our apt. being listed! But that still doesn’t leave much money left for extravagant things.
To the consignment shops we go! I love good deals. Nothing about spending tons of money makes me feel good. And, I like the idea of recycling products. There’s no reason perfectly good, stable furniture should ever be dumped. Consider consignment-shopping my contribution to the environment.
We discovered one of San Diego’s largest stores, Consignment Classics: http://www.consignmentclassicsca.com/
There were so many couches, tables, chairs, lamps, paintings, rugs, frames, vases, beds, dressers… you name it, they had it. And as we walked through the many sections, there were certain pieces that would SING. Chris and I rarely have the same taste but on this day, we seemed to be drawn to the same items. Like these couches… Halleluya!
We found these awesome light grey, soft, comfy couches but they were $400 including shipping. That seemed really pricy to me especially sine they were used but I guess a brand new set like this could be well over $1000. A little over our budget for couches but as we sat on them and pondered them, we realized they felt too good not to grab. I also found really cool, bright yellow decorative pillows at Goodwill for $5 each and IKEA had throw pillow covers for $4.99. Since we scored some deals on pillows, it made the whole set seem less expensive. Not sure if that’s the best justification but hey, aren’t they cute?!
